It was my excuse to get to know the city—the food (too good), the people (very welcoming…though I sadly never ran into any Real Housewives, I miss you, Phaedra), the history (make time for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the Atlanta vintage clothing and Atlanta thrift stores

1. THE CLOTHING WAREHOUSE

To start off the list of Atlanta vintage clothing and Atlanta thrift stores is the rainbow gem The Clothing Warehouse. I am a sucker for stores organizing items by colors (see Palm Springs) so I didn’t leave The Clothing Warehouse without turning the rainbow vintage t-shirt wall into a selfie-photo shoot backdrop. In addition to 100s-1000s of vintage shirts, the store houses walls of cowboy boots and racks of vintage dresses and sweaters (also organized by color).

2. PSYCHO SISTERS

Thank you Psycho Sisters for not only organizing your items by decade but for providing a rundown of how to create the perfect decade look including a summary of the each decade’s style, a bulleted list of costume elements, and photos of example looks. You can find wigs, hats, vintage prom dresses, shiny 70s button-down shirts, and UGGs. Yes, there are many different color UGGs. 3. RAG-O-RAMA

Imagine Crossroads Trading Company or Buffalo Exchange, twice the size, with a lot more Nike sneakers, athletic wear, and sweats. That’s Rag-O-Rama. Next time I’ll fit in an extra day to go through all of the racks. Still wishing the orange, pink, yellow, and green Nike Air Max I saw on my last trip came in my size.

4. JUNKMAN’S DAUGHTER

If you need an atypical souvenir head here. My favorite items – Buffy the Vampire Slayer and RuPaul’s Drag Race Mad Libs. You can find boas, Halloween masks, vintage candy, and homeware goods by local and regional artists. So everything you could ever need.

The store opened in 1982, when Pam Majors, who really is the daughter of a Junkman, rented a 1,000 square-foot storefront. She filled it with tchotchkes and dead stock from her parents 40 year accumulation of stuff, and began adding her own take on weird and wonderful.

Head to the back of the store for a few racks of men and women’s vintage clothing. The secondhand selection is limited but seeing the now 10,000 square-foot store of unique items was worth the visit. This is another favorite of the Atlanta vintage clothing and Atlanta thrift stores.
