I’m Carley and I’m glad you stopped by the site.
In May 2017 I moved from Los Angeles to San Francisco with a sewing machine (necessary) and way too much (unnecessary) stuff.
I had less space and a job that kept me traveling—my clothing couldn't keep up.
I also started learning about the true cost of my stacks of fast fashion for both the environment and people in the supply chain.
I needed a clothing change—but I didn't want to lose my style and my love of fun fashion. So I started asking kickass women around the globe how they built conscious wardrobes that didn’t sacrifice their diverse, unique styles.
Thoughtful Flamingo is a place where I’ll be sharing their stories, testing out ethical clothing practices/trends, and bringing you global shopping guides, so we all can (easily) bring more sustainability into our lives—without losing out on the sequins.
I hope you enjoy the journey to a smarter wardrobe with me.
Thoughtful Flamingo is the fun guide to the sustainable fashion world. I believe smart style can include personality (and sequins), women have the (ethical clothing) answers, and over consumption is (so) last season.
Thoughtful Flamingo provides three main reads to show you don’t need to sacrifice style to be sustainable.
The Curated Closet: Meet kickass women building conscious (and fun) wardrobes.
The Good Finds: See where to shop around the world (from vegan to vintage, from Amsterdam to Mexico City).
The 101: Learn new (and easy) ways to bring sustainability into your closet. We believe it’s not one way fits all.
