The Best Vintage Marketplace: A Current Affair
I am always on the hunt for unique vintage pieces. I scour flea markets, thrift stores, and garage sales to find hidden gem pieces. But sometimes it’s okay to have the search be less of a struggle and indulge in a place that has the best come to you.
I read about A Current Affair last year in LA and headed to the event. I didn’t make a purchase but was in awe of the so many finds all in one place. (And Jeremy Scott also happened to be there so that’s cool).
So when I found out they would have one in the SF area I added it to my calendar and dragged a few ladies with me.
The marketplace hosts ~80 vintage retailers and private dealers to showcase their best vintage clothing, accessories, and jewelry. Most of the retailers are from the Bay, like Afterlife Boutique, that sells (not too expensive) vintage Levi’s in the Mission.
I do admit I mostly admire the clothes instead of buy. (I fell in love with a two-piece purple oufit...but it was a size 24...and $1,2000.) But there are enough reasonable finds to help you start building up a vintage collection.
Take a look at some of my favorites and see what I grabbed for under $100.
It's okay to leave with only one item or even nothing. Start seeing what inspires you. I promise there will be more marketplaces and more vintage. And good news! A Current Affair heads back to SF in November and To LA April 6 and 7.
