Drink the wine. Learn about the wine (it’s home to a pretty great wine museum). Eat its oysters from the Bay of Arcachon. Then walk along Rue du Loup’s to see the best of Bordeaux shopping — reasonably priced secondhand, vintage, and upcycled clothing stores (also known as friperies!). Because you need something else to do besides drink and eat all day…right?
All shops below can be easily accessed via this Bordeaux Good Finds Google Map to use on your upcoming French adventure. Just avoid heading there on a Monday when most stores are closed.
1. TILT VINTAGE
Get your French worker’s jacket, bucket hat, puffer jacket, pea coat, fur, sweatsuit fix, sweater, and blouse fix in the Bordeaux shopping location of this Paris favorite.
Tilt is well organized so you don’t have to sort through racks and racks of shirts to find the style or color you are looking to buy.
I was also impressed by its hat selection—from trucker to fishing (see above) to bucket.

2. BLUE MADONE
Blue Madone
I spent a lot of time at Blue Madone. The shop sells secondhand, upcycled secondhand created right in the store, and a selection of clothing and jewelry handmade my local artists and designers.
Find one-of-a-kind upcycled and restored vintage children’s clothing, used shirts with new embroidery by designer Malaury Phr, classic French berets, delicate jewelry, and a men’s jumpsuit my boyfriend tried on for his pottery classes.

3. FREEP’SHOW VINTAGE
Freep’Show Vintage
You can’t miss the mannequins wearing 80s vintage and stuffed animal heads at this Bordeaux shopping staple. And you won’t want to miss thanks to the wide selection of casual used and vintage items like 20€ jean jackets, 10€ blouses, 15€ colorful pool dress, and 5€ men’s button-ups.
Price: $-$$
Hours: Wednesday – Saturday 11am-7pm, Sunday – Tuesday Closed

4. TRAFIC
Trafic
The first used items that caught my eye were the Nike and Reebox sneakers in pinks, oranges, and greens for ~20€. I stayed for the plaid skirts for 10€, an upcycled sports team sweatshirt for 8€, men’s and women’s jeans, mary jane’s, and smock dresses for 8€.

5. LEILOU SHOP
Leilou Shop
Unlike Freep’Show Vintage, it’s easier to miss this small Bordeaux shopping stop—with my lack of French it’s hard to know if the sign includes anything about vintage. (I did soon learn friperie means secondhand shop!) I picked up a green sleevless dress I plan to wear weekends and for work meetings and my boyfriend got vintage Levi’s in a baggy style he has been trying to find. Lucky for us the storeowner was offering a 2-for-1 special that day!
Leilou Shop takes a bit more digging than the others but since it’s small it doesn’t take too much time. It’s worth it for a vintage Levi’s find for less than 50€ .
Price: $-$$
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 1:30pm – 7pm, Sunday and Monday Closed
Location: 12 Rue du Loup, 33000 Bordeaux, France
Phone: +33 9 82 34 87 21
6. MADAME PLUS
Madame Plus
If you are looking for used and consigned current designer clothing head to Madame Plus. I saw a Monclear knee length jacket for 156€, Ganni dress for 59€, The Kooples pants for 59€, and a cashmere sweater for 49€ . Head to the back of the store for a separate room packed with used current designer baby and children’s clothes.
Price: $$-$$$
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 1pm and 2pm-7pm, Sunday and Monday Closed
Location: 22 Rue Castillon, 33000 Bordeaux, France
