The Best Thrift Stores in Boulder – Clothing & Consignment

by Carley Lake | Last Updated:   June 16, 2020

I was told I must hike, bike, and run when I visit Boulder, Colorado. I prepared myself for the scenic lake views and high altitudes….but no one warned me about the under $100 Jimmy Choos. So stay hydrated, pack some bike shorts, and learn more about the affordable designer consignment clothing and thrift stores in Boulder you won’t find in San Francisco or LA.

All used and thrift stores in Boulder described below can be easily accessed via this Boulder Good Finds Google Maps List to use on your upcoming Rocky Mountains adventure.

But first, the first online vintage clothing swap is here!

I’m thrilled to invite you to join the Lucky Sweater App vintage community—an exclusive space for vintage enthusiasts to connect, trade their favorite vintage clothing pieces, and share style tips and inspiration. It’s like a little secret society for those of us who love vintage clothing and want to get the coolest vintage pieces without having to buy, buy, buy.

Use my invite code “VINTAGEBOULDER” to get instant access and let’s share our finds and stories! It’s the app I co-founded and built so would love to have you join me and thousands of other vintage enthusiasts. You can download the app on iPhone and Android!

1. COMMON THREADS BOULDER

A Mara Hoffman bodysuit for $47.50….a Maeve tank top for $10.50…Lululemon shorts for $14.50…Hudson Jeans for $27.50…and Jimmy Choo strappy healed sandals for $68…Common Threads Boulder, I still thinking about your well-made finds for such low prices.

Founded in 2007 by Libby Alexander, Common Threads Boulder doesn’t just offer consigned clothing but also a range of classes. Students can take “Trash the Runway” and design, troubleshoot, and create original garments from found materials. So post Chautauqua Park hike, come hang out and shop and sew.

2. RAGS CONSIGNMENTS – WAREHOUSE

I know I’ve lived in overpriced San Francisco too long when seeing used $133.75 Manolo Blahnik feels like I just saw the Easter Bunny. Find a Marc Jacobs laptop bag for $92.75, Lululemon headbands for $8.75, Diane Von Furstenberg dress for $62.75, and Nikes for under $30. And then it gets better. All of the items at the warehouse location are an additional 20% off. See what other designers you will find on the shelves at one of the top used and thrift stores in Boulder.

3. RAGSTOCK BOULDER

Founded in the mid-50s, Ragstock is one of the first of the thrift stores in Boulder. It began as a place where the founder came to sell his secondhand clothing from all over the world. Think used capes from London and old army boots from Germany.

Ragstock continues to sell vintage and now upcycled clothing at its 38 locations—just head past the new items on the first floor and down the stairs in this Boulder local to the used. (Resist the new!)

Find $5 used jean shorts, $30 cowboy boots, and $15 upcyled sweatshirts with popular phrases like “Felt Cute” and Daria’s “Sick Sad World”.

Ragstock also loves its holidays. Come for Halloween costumes, used Christmas sweaters, and items for the 4th of July. It’s the perfect place for last-minute holiday outfits or themed party attire.
