Shopping in Paris: The Best Sustainable Fashion Stores

When I think of French fashion and shopping in Paris I think of the couture houses—Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy—you know, the places most of my wardrobe comes from…just kidding.

Luckily, there are reasonably-priced places for shopping in Paris that also care about how clothes are made. And if you only have a couple of hours to shop in The City of Lights (and the city of really chic ladies), I recommend stopping by these 2 ethical fashion stores below.

1. CENTRE COMMERCIAL

The stores grabbed me with its Veja selection. Then I learned the stores were started by the founders of this sustainable shoe line—childhood friends Sébastien Kopp and François Morillion. The curation is thoughtful and the stores show sustainable can still be bright, fun, and perfectly organized by shade (see Proemes de Paris vinyl skirt and every-color Howlin’ sweaters, scarves, hats, and gloves, Rita Row, Mara Hoffman, Suzie Winkle, Stan Ray, and more. )

Along with housing brands from across the world, Centre Commercial can also be transformed into a meeting space for product launches or events that celebrate fashion and the environment—it’s not just for shopping in Paris.

The all-vegan, cruelty-free shop doesn’t scream “we are a sustainable, ethical store” across its signage. The twin sister owners Maud and Judith Pouzin want people who think vegan or sustainable can’t be pretty to come in and be surprised.

The vegan accessories and clothing have more muted tones than those at Centre Commercial—making it the perfect place to find a full outfit to blend in with the chic street styles all around.

Brands include Matt & Nat, Cossac, People Tree, Embassy of Bricks and Logs, and more.
